Mobile Money Business Flops After Sim-Card Disconnection

Days after UCC imposed a disconnection order on those who have not registered with national IDs, mobile money operators have recorded few transactions as the disconnection bites.

The simcards that were disconnected cannot make calls or transfer money.

One of the mobile money vendors says people nowadays don’t send money for fear that  the receiver’s simcard maybe disconnected thus the money wont’ be delivered.

Another vendor says that before the deadline day, many customers withdrew their money than depositing and he fears this may affect the already weak economy.

However, the disconnections were not permanent and many of those who have been disconnected rushed to customer care points of telecom companies to try and get re-connected.
