John Magara the father of murdered city girl Susan Magara has revealed how he has a bank loan which he is going to renegotiate with his bankers.
Susan Magara was kidnapped on February 7th outside her home in Lungujja and was found dead in Kigo on February 27th, three weeks later.
Magara revealed this at the funeral ceremony of his daughter at Kitoba in Hoima on Thursday.
Distraught Magara said as a family they did everything they could to save Susan’s from her captors but it was not enough to bring her home alive. He revealed that they gave the kidnapper what they asked for and were shocked when they received Susan’s body instead.
Minister of Security Henry Tumukunde told mourners how the kidnappers demanded for USD1m dollars to release Susan. Magara confirmed that he gave the kidnappers money. It has been reported that Magara gave the thugs USD200,000 which amounts to just over Shs700,000.
It is not clear if the ransom money was gotten from the bank or if Magara was referencing an existing bank facility with a financial institution and his family and or business. Magara is a successful businessman running Bwendero Diary Farm and Nyati Rice.
He said he is going to talk to his bankers to give him more time to repay the loan considering the circumstances.
