Airtel Officially Launches ‘Matatu’ Application

Airtel Uganda and Kola Studios a leading mobile games development Company in Uganda, has today August 21 launched a mobile phone application for the popular social card game‘Matatu’which is available for Android, Windows 8 and IOS-based platforms.

The game was officially unveiled with an exclusive Airtel Twitter Party and Face-Off event at OutBox.

Airtel Managing Director V.G Somasekhar congratulated Kola Studios on their innovation and pledged that Airtel was ready to support and launch any developers with ready to go mobile phone applications.

The launch of this game forms an integral part of the Airtel’s strategy to provide accessibility and affordability for consumers to enjoy the best telecommunication experiences possible. As we partner in introducing this game we are excited to see ‘Matatu” reach a new generation of players and to be a part of promoting the significant growth opportunities emerging in smartphone games,” said V.G Somasekhar

The two-player card game application is based on the popular multi-player Ugandan card game. The game which was played off tablets and off individual mobile phones pitted ‘Matatu” fans and aficionado’s against each other for various prizes including t-shirts, bandanas and other exciting prizes.

The game will be available for the public to enjoy on Facebook, from the Samsung App Store, Windows Store and Google Play.
