The proposed new modern markets in the five divisions of Kampala City will cost ($100m) sh250b Red Pepper Online edition understands.
The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) spokesperson, Peter Kaujju revealed that the authority had concluded plans to construct new markets in Bukoto, Kitintale and Ggaba and refurbish old markets in Busega, Kasubi, Ntinda and Nakulabye.
Kaujju says funds for procurement of land for the other markets and their construction had not yet been secured.
The new markets will be built to similar standard as the sh22b Wandegeya Market that houses 1,200 traders.
