Superbrands East Africa, an affiliate of London-based Superbrands UK, has today announced that the Vice President of Uganda Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi will be the chief guest at the Superbrands Tribute Event 2014 slated for this Thursday, June 19 2014, at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
Superbrands is the world’s largest independent arbiter of branding. It identifies and pays tribute to exceptional brands by recognising, rewarding and reinforcing leading brands from all over the world.
The revelation was made by Mr Jawad Jaffer, the Superbrands East Africa Project Director, at the unveiling of the Thursday event’s sponsors in Kampala.
“The Vice President of Uganda has accepted our invitation to be chief guest at the Tribute Event on Thursday and we believe his presence will make the event more special,” said Mr Jawad.
The two-yearly event, Mr Jawad said, will also be graced by Uganda’s Finance Minister Hon Maria Kiwanuka, who is also a Superbrands Council Member in East Africa.
Mr Jawad noted that more than 80 brands from East Africa will be recognized and most of the CEOs of top companies in the region will be present to grace the event, dubbed; the Oscars of branding in East Africa.
Uganda has 15 firms.
“Apart from awarding the new Superbrands, we shall also unveil The Superbrands East Africa Volume III Book. As with all Superbrands books we tell the stories of the region’s amazing brands, many of them are huge International names but others are home-grown brands that have fought their way to the top through hard work and the determination to provide quality,” he said.
“This volumes league table is the result of an independent and rigorous selection process which was many months in the making. Thousands of brands from more than 28 different sectors were considered and as always the East African public had the final say.”
Superbrands East Africa runs the Superbrands UK award schemes and promotional programmes, in the region. Superbrands status strengthens a brand’s position, adds prestige and sets the brand apart from its competitors.
“I am also delighted to announce that this event would not have been possible without the support of respectable companies like Roofings, Airtel, Midcom, and Turkish Airlines. Thank you very much,” he said, adding: “Superbrands as the world’s largest independent arbiter of branding shall continue identifying and paying tribute to exceptional brands by recognising, rewarding and reinforcing leading brands from all over the world.”
