Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda last week came under fire as members tasked him to explain why the shilling is losing value against the dollar.

Led by Martin Muzaale, who is alleged to be Mbabazi sympathizer, the members claimed that the government hasn’t done anything though the shilling continues to depreciate.
“The business community is crying, consumers are crying. We have not seen any remedy by government. I have seen other countries supporting enterprises, in Uganda we don’t have. Do we have as a country a strategy to help the business community?” Muzaale asked
Rugunda responded that; “The problem is because we are importing a lot and exporting a little. We are not balancing. Let’s produce more and export. Government continues to encourage our people to export. Even the program of OWC is aimed at encouraging people to grow more crops so that we export and earn more dollars.”
